A big thanks to STVN for catching this.
Shepard Fairey and the Associated Press have settled their little dispute over Fairey’s HOPE image. It’s amazing what financial benefits can do to people’s “principles”. Fairey and the AP have apparently come out of this as great pals and they’re going to collaborate on a series based off of AP photographs. The AP was supposedly enraged by Fairey’s use of the Obama image without licensing it but instead of following through with their demands they say “oh, that’s ok” because in the future, they’re going to be making bank off of Fairey’s work. And does Fairey care? Of course not, he’ll continue doing what he would have done anyway.
I’m having a tough time really getting to the meat/substance of my reaction but basically it boils down to this: Can we please show a little integrity?
